My main idea was to create a piece of music that gradually evolves; starting with a raw, unpolished sound that progressively transforms into a better produced piece as the film develops. As more apes appear, the music becomes more refined and well produced, albeit more chaotic compared to the more blissful yet raw sounding intro. The intention was to highlight how the development of a society, alongside a rise in production quality, often leads to chaos and destruction regardless of the advancments in technology. The way I portrayed this juxtaposed, chaotic yet refined part would be using a well produced track with screeching noises symbolising the apes presence and growing disorder.
After experimenting with the slide I recognised the potential of striking the strings in a way to create percussive embellishments, these are abruptly contrasted with a jarring sweep up the neck. Each strike is followed by a mellow decline where for a moment you drift away: until you are thrust back by the next strike; the only thing allowing for the prior moment of bliss.
An idea i've been playing around with; I went with my first take of the rhythm guitar part where I held chords and changed them mid way through bar lengths, creating an unstable foundation for the rest of the parts to be recorded onto. This added to the unease and growing distance the piece portrays; a theme forced from the very beginning.
